Want to know more about our standard Administration and Monitoring Package? Full-Time computer and network support that costs you about 1/10th of what a full-time employee would! |
|
|
Customer Requirements: |
|
- Any NT/Server2000/Server2003, Novell or Linix client/server based network.
- Internet access. This includes, a full or fractional T-1, broadband or xDSL Internet access. It is NOT feasible to monitor a network at this level with a modem. Impact on your Internet bandwidth will be minimal, because any traffic we send over it will be byte sized.
- One customer contact person.
- Administrator level access to your Network.

|
|
This is what we offer: |
|
- Full Time Network and Computer Support: We are your network Administrators, performing functions such as adding users, repairing computers, network support, network security, email administration, Application support, Internet connectivity...everything that a full-time Network administrator and engineer would do, without the cost to you of employee benefits and taxes, vacations, training, holidays, sick days...you only pay us for the work actually performed.
- Remote Control: We install a secure remote-access program on your Server, which allows us to remotely control (via VPN) any computer on your network. Have a configuration problem? One of our administrators can "shadow" your computer desktop and fix it as you watch. We can do this fully unattended, even rebooting a device remotely to get a hung server back online. This lets us perform many of the regularly required administrative functions during non business hours, so it doesn't interrupt your business day.
- Local Monitoring: We install our custom suite of monitoring software onto your LAN. This allows us to monitor your network from within, these tools utilize SMTP to provide us with notifications if a network device is not working properly. This monitoring is normally limited to "Mission Critical" devices (servers, routers, switches...devices that will affect the entire network). This software typically resides on your server, and is able to monitor all of the network attached devices inside your firewall. Each device is polled every 2 minutes 24 hours a day. If any device returns a down condition for two sequential polls, one of our administrators is notified automatically within seconds. Many times we are aware of an issue and respond before the customer is even aware that
there is a problem.
- Remote Monitoring: At our various monitoring sites around town (each customer network is typically watched by 3 systems for redundancy), we monitor the internal monitoring service and any network devices that reside outside your firewall such as routers, web server, or email server via the Internet, to ensure that that the internal monitoring tools are still running, and that your internet, mail, and web server access is uninterrupted. This two-tier level of monitoring is unique to Part-Time Geeks Computer Services. This monitor polls every 3 minutes, and if it returns a down condition for two sequential polls, one of our administrators is notified automatically within seconds.
- Live Monitoring updates on our Website: All of our monitoring tools continuously update our secure web site after each poll of the devices.
Click here to see this in ACTION! This allows our engineers and administrators to view the state of any device at any time. Want to log on at night and make sure things are up and running during second shift? We will be happy to give you secure, password protected, online access to your statistics via any web browser.
- On-Site Visits: We visit your office bi-weekly during business hours to perform what few administration duties cannot be done remotely. This includes hardware installations and repairs, reconfigurations to our monitoring software, checks to ensure that your backups are working as configured.
- Updates: As new updates for your software become available (patches, virus updates, etc.) we will in most cases install them remotely during non-business hours. Some, however require a hands-on installation, and will be performed during our regularly scheduled visits.
- Emergency response: In the event that you have a failure of a network device, that cannot be addressed remotely, we dispatch an engineer or administrator within 4 business hours (between the hours of 8:00AM-5:00PM except for holidays) to address the problem.
- Reports: Monthly reports detailing the up/down statistics of your network, graphically showing your network availability.
- Network Documentation: Regularly updated network documentation. We provide a copy to you, and any engineer or administrator that monitors or is dispatched to work on your network will have access to this information, along with a log of network changes. This documentation includes network hierarchy and architecture, memory, IP ranges, installed software, and many other things.
- Network Testing: If needed, we can provide detailed network statistical testing as needed to determine bandwidth issues and to catch and document intermittently occurring network issues.
